Description

Trackman’s headquarters in DTU Science Park combines the freedom of a campus setting with the energy of a “Deep Tech” research hub. Surrounded by rolling forested terrain, the building is designed for openness, light, and a constant connection to nature.

Visitors arrive via a bridge that emphasizes its standalone form, entering a bright, high-ceilinged lobby centered around an atrium—the social heart of the building. Two main volumes are shaped with subtle projections and recesses to harmonize with the landscape. The building is conceived as a split-level structure, with the two main elements shifted to follow the natural slope of the terrain and to allow for visual connection between the levels. The ground floor’s horizontal brick base anchors it to the site, while upper glass façades with vertical shading slats echo the surrounding tree trunks, filtering sunlight into soft, shifting patterns.

Inside, workspaces face both the exterior and atrium, creating visual connections between floors and encouraging collaboration. To the east, a partially earth-sheltered wing houses production and testing facilities, naturally lit and integrated into the site’s slope.

A column-and-beam structure allows flexible, non-load-bearing façades. Robust brick is contrasted by glass and timber details for durability, adaptability, and timeless elegance.
